Release: Koko Analytics v1.3.10

Yesterday we released version 1.3.10 of our free Koko Analytics plugin. This is a patch release, meaning we did not introduce any breaking changes or add any significant new features and it is safe to update without requiring any changes on your part.

Koko Analytics Pro

We’ve opened up user registration for Koko Analytics Pro again! We closed down the Pro version earlier this year because I (Danny) wanted to give full-time employment a try. Fast forward a few months and I am convinced that self-employment fits me best.

Koko Analytics Pro adds the ability to track custom events, like outbound link clicks or form submissions. You can purchase a Koko Analytics Pro license by going through our registration form, after which you get immediate access to the add-on plugin.

Facebook link previews

Previous versions of Koko Analytics would count Facebook link preview requests as actual traffic, inflating visitor and pageview count. Version 1.3.10 updates our User-Agent filtering logic to filter out this kind of traffic.

Referrer spam blocklist

Koko Analytics uses a community-maintained blocklist initiated by Matomo, another self-hosted alternative to Google Analytics, to combat HTTP referrer spam. Any request with a referrer URL that’s on this list will be ignored altogether. In this release we’ve updated said blocklist to its latest version.

Next up on our roadmap

That’s all for this release. The next few weeks we will be focusing our efforts on period email reports and default events, so that you can easily start tracking outbound link clicks or form submissions without needing to write a single line of code.

Also, we hope to do more quick write-ups offering some background on each release in the future, so stay tuned for more!
